Which Race Should You Pick? - WoW: Dragonflight

If you are one of the many players stuck on choosing your race for your play through of
World Of Warcraft: Dragonflight,
you're not alone. With a variety of racial abilities picking the right race for your class can be hard, depending on what type of content you are thinking of making your main.

Some players have their favorite races regardless of racial abilities. There are specific uses for each playable race's racial abilities, so with careful picking, you may have the upper hand in either Raids, Mythic+, or PVP. Let's take a dive into the playable races in the new expansion.

New Race: Drakthyr

Dragonflight's new race, the
Drakthyr,
will be playable on Horde and Alliance with the second phase of the pre-patch on November 15th, 2022, but you will be able to only make one Drakthyr on each realm, and you will
need a level 60 character
to create a character of this race. The Drakthyr will start in their special starter zone and only have one class available to play as, the Evoker. This is a mid-range DPS or Healer class depending on your spec.

I’ve heard something like this existed in Vanilla. Why not add it again? Just to make races a bit more unique

As far as i know the only class that had racial abilities was priest. For instance dwarfs had fearward, nightelfs an AoE damage spell.
That is the only class i know that had them.

The problem was, fearward was so good, people wanted dwarven priests only

Paxmillian-argent-dawn3

Yeah it was priest only and it was horrendously unbalanced.

Humans - desperate prayer and feedback. DP ok, FB pants
Dwarf - DP and fear ward. Fear ward insanely strong, hence dwarf priest being so popular.
Nelf - starshards and elunes grace. SS okay for an additional source of damage but mainly for the healer specs as mind flay is outright better for shadow. EG is situational as heck.
Draenei - symbol of hope and fear ward. SoH unique spell which at least was actually okay and useful in PvE
. Fear ward godly.

Troll - hex of weakness and shadowguard. Hex is pretty weak, SG is free damage, mainly useful in soloing and PvP.
Undead - touch of weakness and Devouring Plague. Touch is better than hex, and DP

Racial Traits in World of Warcraft: A Community Discussion

The balance of these traits has often been a topic of discussion within our community. With the upcoming changes to human racials and the eventual adjustment of Dractyr’s racial traits in The War Within, I believe now would be a good time for an overall refresh on racial traits for most races. I’d like to open up a discussion on how Blizzard could improve the feeling while keeping things balanced.

Current State of Racial Traits

Racial traits are mostly done with the same recipe for every race.

A combat-utility racial

A damage-output racial

A sprinkle of flavor racials which come in various form

Let’s take dwarf as an example:

Stoneform is the combat-utility racial

Might of the mountain is the damage-increase racial (2% crit damage)

Frost resistance and explorer are flavor racials

Sometimes the combat-utility is passive, like for Orc:

Blood Fury is the damage-output racial
