World record for 300 piece puzzle
Guinness World Records: Prize-Winning Puzzles
Guinness is good for you… especially if you’re a world record breaker! Guinness World Records, originally conceived over a 1951 debate about which was the fastest game bird in Europe*, has evolved into the globally recognised authority on record-breaking.
Hugh Beaver, the managing director of the Guinness Brewery and one party in the bird discussion, realised there was no book to settle such a dispute. Inspired by this, he envisioned a comprehensive compilation of superlatives that could serve as a reference guide. In 1954, the first edition of

was published and quickly became a bestseller.
Plenty of puzzling feats have appeared in its pages over the subsequent years, including the brain-boggling achievements below. Are you up to the challenge?
Most pieces in a jigsaw puzzle
Do you find a 500-piece jigsaw a bit of a challenge to complete? Good job you weren’t in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam on 24 September 2011. That’s where 1,600 students spent 17 hours completing a jigsaw of lotus flower consisting of 551,232 pieces, with an overall measurement of 14.85 x 20.20m. If you’re after a jigsaw that’s

Many things influence how long it will take a person to complete jigsaw puzzles. While there are some tips and tricks that can help speed up completion time while reducing frustration, there are still many different things that pull together to determine your finish time.
On average, standard 300-piece puzzles can take two to three hours for a person to complete. Usually, these jigsaws have larger-than-average sized pieces, making them excellent for children, the elderly, people with Alzheimer’s or dementia, and families who like to do puzzles together.
Completion Times for Other Puzzles
Expected solving times for other sizes of popular puzzles also vary according to many factors, just as they do for 300-piece puzzles. In general, the time it takes to solve different sizes of puzzles is as follows:
●500-piece puzzles: 2-7 hours, with an average of 4 hours
●1,000-piece puzzles: 5-12 hours, with an average of 9 hours
●2,000-piece puzzles: 11-24 hours, with an average of 17 hours
The most significant single indicator of how long a puzzle will take to complete is the number of pieces included in the puzzle. While some people claim that every time the number of p

Tammy McLeod recently set the Guinness World Record for the “fastest time to complete the Hasbro puzzle” with a time of 9 minutes 58.32 seconds.
We recently chatted with Tammy (puzzler extraordinaire!) about this experience.
Interview
REA: What was involved in setting this record?
Tammy: This record is actually a pretty old one. The previous record was set in 2014. So, my first step was getting a hold of the puzzle. There is a specific puzzle required for the record and this puzzle is actually out of print! I had to track down a copy from the UK on Ebay. The next step was contacting Guinness. They have a specific list of requirements that need to be satisfied for a successful record attempt. I had planned to make an attempt in summer 2020 at a puzzle event, and of course, everything got cancelled. It was December 2020 before I figured out how to safely organize an attempt.
Was there anything unusual about the Hasbro puzzle?
It’s a fairly standard cardboard puzzle. It’s oval shaped, and doesn’t come with a reference picture. The puzzle image features a number of other world record holders.

That’s a great question, but like the St. Ives problem, it has many correct answers. The Guinness world records that are relative to jigsaw puzzles are numerous and varied:

World Record for Most Pieces in a Jigsaw Puzzle
Have you ever dared to try your hand at a 2000-piece puzzle? It’s definitely an accomplishment, but unfortunately, it can’t even begin to compare to the record holder from September 24, 2011. That puzzle had 551,232 pieces!
It was completed in a mind-crushing 17 hours, but when you learn that it was a team effort of 1600 students, it seems a little more doable. These students were attending the University of Economics at Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, and this was probably just a side project. Unless we know nothing about economics, that is.
That many people stretched out over a jigsaw puzzle would require it to be pretty enormous, wouldn’t you think?
You’d be correct. This puzzle measured abo
